She can't feel the floor

Nina had always loved the water. Her whole childhood was spent in either the rain, mud, puddles, or kiddy pools. Recently though, she hasn't had time to enjoy a good swim or mud splashing. She was usually at the Nook spending time with the wynglings, either to keep them out of trouble or well fed.
Today she was supposed to bring some fresh water for the wynglings at the Nook. As Nina made her way towards to stream, she wondered if she would ever get a chance to swim again. She wasn't exactly in a rush to get back either. 'Why not?', she thought.
Nina lunged herself into the cool water with all her might and shrieked excitedly once she splashed into the water. She had no idea how much she missed the feeling of bubbles escaping her nostrils and her feet feeling the mushy muddy floor at the bottom. Almost immediately though, she panicked when she felt only more water under her feet. 'Where is the floor?! How deep is this stream?!' She thought as her legs kicked her towards the flowers and grass. When her claws finally clenched the grass, she looked back and stared in terror. She remained still until the panic finally wore off.
Nina had always loved the water. Though she never really learned how to swim without touching bottom.
